Interscholastic Sports, by Brian Scott, Athletic Director

Sports ideally teach discipline and commitment.
They challenge you and build character for everything you do in life.
~Howie Long

The weather is cooperating and boys' and girls' teams are ready to compete.  Thanks to Mr. Rawley, Ms. Sarah, and Mr. Nick, the athletic fields look exceptional!

According to Coach Taylor, “the Boys' Lacrosse team got off to a strong start this season against a young and numerous Caravel team, winning 8 - 2.  Rookie goalie Charlie Liston carried a shutout into the fourth quarter and five different Herons scored with Cross Ferrara earning a hat trick before halftime."  The team's second game was against Wilmington Christian on Wednesday and the team cruised to an impressive victory of 11-1.

Girls’ soccer lost a tough match 1-0 against Caravel.  According to Head Coach Mr. Thayer, "The girls played hard against Caravel on a blustery day.  Much of the play was in the midfield with few scoring opportunities for either team.  They converted on a lovely high shot from 16 yards away.  The JV game was a scoreless draw with lots of great playing time for our less experienced players."

Girls' Lacrosse opened their season yesterday at home against Caravel with great success.  They played as a team and came back from a 3-1 halftime deficit to win 7-6.  What a great debut for girls lacrosse!  Well done, girls!
